DV – 3.6 MB/sec for one video stream and can be easily accommodated by one ATA or Serial ATA disk drive.
Can I use Firewire drives for video capture?
Apple has never qualified any Firewire drive for video capture whether it be one for DV or a FW RAID for SD. Yes, I know that lots of people use them or try to and loads of them get dropped frames on capture. (Final Cut Pro 4 – User’s Manual: Volume 1; page 44)
